Will Murray
Will Murray, who wrote for The Pulpster from its first number onward, has died. He was 73.
Murray’s first appearance in these pages was “Writing Doc Savage,” published for Pulpcon 20 in 1991. He contributed to the magazine steadily across the next 35 years — on the pulp-hero revolution of 1933 and the heroic age of the pulps in number 32, on a possible (and humorous) reason for pulp scarcity and on the identity of Secret Agent X in number 33, and, in the latest number released at PulpFest 2026, on the centennial of Ghost Stories and on the brief pulp career of writer Vaughn Bryant.
Beyond the magazine, Murray was the literary agent for the estate of Lester Dent, the author of more than 20 new Doc Savage novels, and the author of The Duende History of The Shadow Magazine. He received Pulpcon’s Lamont Award in 1979, and was a regular attendee at Pulpcon and PulpFest for decades.
