Coming soon: number 31
The next number of The Pulpster has been put to bed (using the old newspaper jargon to say it’s been sent to the printer).
Now that it has been finalized, we’ve updated its page in the Back Numbers department with a listing of the contents.
Number 31 is a terrific issue (if we do say so ourselves). It arrives with a robust 68 pages plus covers.
Among those pages, you’ll find the first part of a history of Fiction House publishers, by our publisher, Mike Chomko. A number of sidebars on Fiction House magazines, fictioneers, and artists accompany it. Watch for the second part of Mike’s excellent article in next year’s number.
Beside the Fiction House articles, you can read about the future of “slabbed” pulps, The Avenger, Nightmare Alley‘s doomed author, Dime Mystery, Zane Grey, the Church of Satan founder and pulp aficionado Anton LaVey, and long-time sf fan and Pulpcon anchor Rusty Hevelin.
And, as always, in Final Chapters, we pay our respects to all of those associated with the pulps who we’ve lost the past year.
All members and attendees at PulpFest 50 in August will receive a copy of Number 31. A limited number of copies will be available for order on this website following the summer pulp convention. (You can still get your hands on our previous most-recent issues — number 29 and number 30 — but copies are very limited.)
